No.09 • The Young Poet
When Coco would visit No. 09 to bring Amir his bottle of milk, he would always offer her a bowl of cornflakes, his favorite breakfast meal. She would listen to Amir's beautiful poetry while he enjoyed Coco's freshly baked cookies. Amir, a young hopeful student and a true poet at heart, always knew how to lift Coco's spirits and inspire her.
Amir is from Aleppo, where scent and soap are part of the culture. He had an uncle named Wasim who always carried hazelnuts in his pocket. Beloved by the neighborhood children for his kindness, Uncle Wasim would often take Amir fishing. They would sing and write poetry about their lovely adventures. Unfortunately, his uncle passed away due to a severe illness, leaving behind four daughters, a wife, and a grandchild.
To honor Amir's cherished memories, Coco created a special cookie that combines crispy cornflakes for texture and depth, reflecting Amir's beautiful character, with roasted hazelnuts as an ode to his beloved uncle. The white chocolate adds a creamy sweetness, making each bite a reminder of the sweet memories of home. Although it can't ease the pain or fill the void left by his uncle, this cookie captures the essence of those treasured times.
